Tourism and Gender Worldwide

8th Champlain Rendezvous
The 8th Champlain Rendezvous, paying tribute to Samuel Champlain, founder of Quebec and an emblematic figure of exploration, navigation, cartography, and cultural connectivity, celebrates the spirit of discovery and adventure. Since its inception in 2004, this biennial event brings together professionals and academics from around the world to discuss the issues and trends in tourism research.
The eighth edition, held in Marrakech from June 3 to 5, 2021, focused on the theme "Tourism and Gender Worldwide: Cross-Cutting Issues and Local Specificities."
This edition set three major objectives. Firstly, it aimed to highlight research on tourism considering the gender dimension. The goal is to track the evolution of tourism through this perspective to better understand the associated challenges, such as tourism practices, the participation of women and men in this sector, and persistent professional inequalities.
